The oil on canvas original of this painting hangs in a hytta (cottage) that perches on rocky Linesøya (Lines Island), coastal Norway. The bird is a large raptor in the family Haliaeetus found throughout most of the world. They are easily recognized by their white tails including our own North American Bald Eagle. We call them "fish eagles" and Norwegians call them “hav orre,” avian giants flying off shore and in the fjiords on eight foot wingspans. I visited Linesøya in 2008 and again in 2010. Now you can look into the same landscape to feel its peace and its power.
