This lighthouse was built to guide boats safely through Michigan’s so-called Shipwreck Coast on the east side of Grand Island into Munising Bay. If you remember Gordon Lightfoot's ballad, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, you know how fierce the gales of November can be along the shores of Lake Superior. His song with its powerful lyrics was released after and it impacted everyone then and many to this day. That's the power of art to remind us of important things, the joyous as well as the tragic and everything in between, and to draw out our emotions all over again. I'm relatively unmusical but make my own kind of music with a lens or a brush.
There are two views available, this vertical one for its closer view of the lighthouse and the horizontal one for broad expanse of a stunning sky. Both are beautiful for the sky, the rustic lighthouse and the gilding of fall trees.
