Nothing like a warm summer day to bring out the best--in plant life, critters, and in me! I see this fellow and his buddies in my bog pond throughout the summer. They’re so used to my work that I move about without arousing their concern. I’d already waited through the month of July into August for the waterlilies and the duckweed to look just right. It took three hours on this day to get an amphibious someone in the right spot. Once he settled in the water I was able to stretch out over the edge resting the battery grip on a wet rock while he posed. I chaperoned the scene as the frog did what frogs do. It was all about the eyes for me and all about safety for the frog. We were very close together; once our eyes met, they held. In thinking about it later, the title Eye-See: You Seeing Me, Seeing You seemed right but too long which explains how a shorter but less clear one was chosen. Although I started my observing very early, the scene didn't materialize until the sun was high and hot. These Nymphaea water lilies really are an intense neon pink an appropriately named varietal called Hot Pink, and that seemed to fit the day and the hour. Gotta love this photography gig!
